The Emerson Administration
During her time as President Mayah Emerson and her team:
- Expanded the Bully's closet project from solely a professional attire rental program for students.
- Created the SA President's Commission on the Status of Minorities . This was a task force convened by the student body president, to better address the needs of Mississippi State’s communities of color. The collective served as a formal mechanism for the discussion and analysis of issues related to the status of minority students at Mississippi State, a programming board charged to foster safe spaces for minority communities, and a home to the A Seat at the Table Conference.
- Originally developed by 2017-2018 Chief of Staff, Nicholas Harris, the Emerson Adminstration continued the A Seat at the Table Conference. The conference was a leadership and professional development conference to equip student leaders to take on leadership roles.
- Developed the robost #MyVotesMattersCampaign earning Mississippi State the Voter Friendly Campus” designation from the nation’s leading student affairs organization and the Fair Election Center’s Campus Vote Project. The campaign included: 1) "Wrap the Vote" concert and rally the night before election day; 2) Election day "Stroll to the Polls"; 3) Statewide voter registration drive registering over 5,000 Mississippi college students to vote .
- Developed and taught True Maroon Leadership Course entitled Lead MAROON!
- Created a Parking and Transit Task Force .
- Organized and advocated on behalf of students against the +/- grading system.
